Use location information to guide site selection

We gather data from the public domain and from commercial data providers. We start with published information from the United States Census Bureau, tracking demographic data for population and housing, as well as business census data.

Public-domain and commercial data sources are complemented by proprietary data from the client, including sales data.

Some site selection projects require primary research or site surveys. We collect information about the physical characteristics of current and potential future sites. We gather information about access to streets and highways. We examine traffic patterns. We collect data about nearby retail establishments, especially close competitors.

For the example problem with Dave’s Hot Chicken, we consider all current and planned franchise locations in the United States. We build models to predict sales.

Predictive models utilize consumer and business demographics and site survey information as explanatory variables. Data from Dave’s current locations represent training data for the site selection model. Then we use the trained model to predict sales at proposed franchise locations.
